Show 859 Kanab. The expedition got a pack outfit at Kanab, and Johnson, Utah. They got mail at Lee's Ferry; he believes twice a month. It being delivered by horseback from Flagstaff, Arizona, and Kanab, Utah. Flagstaff was one hundred and fifty miles south, and Kanab was ninety miles to the northwest. None of it came in on the river, so far as he knew. He spent practically a year and a half in the Grand Canyon country, prospecting on both sides of the river with a pack outfit. He went on to the gulf, to tide water, ninety miles below Yuma, and back to Yuma in wagons, and returned to Denver, through New Mexico, over the Santa Fe Railroad. R. 2020 The Best expedition didn't go to the gulf; but he completed their prospecting in 1893. R. 2021. When he took the pack outfit he prospected along the Grand Canyon, in Northern Arizona, and has never been back to the Green River, or the Colorado River, since; except to cross the Green River on the railroad.
