Mr. Edwards, on any of the trips that you made on these rivers, I refer to the Green and the Colorado, down to Lee's Ferry, did you yourself of any other of the persons in the boats in which you traveled use a map of surveys or charts of any kind? " A. I think that Mr. Stanton had the diary, or whatever information Mr. Powell had; I think he had the topographic maps of the Powell expedition. " Q. Did the men in your boats use them? " A. No, I think Mr. Stanton did all that, gave us orders from those maps, whatever he wanted done. " Q. On the Best expedition was any map or survey used? " A. I think not." R. 2036. |
