Show Martin Harris (Captain) McKinley Oswald Basketball in collegiate circles in Utah saw some excellent competition during 1922. The season witnessed only battles from teams within the State. The sport did not, however, lack in interest in Utah as the three big schools, the U, of Utah, U. A. C. and the B. Y. U., all had evenly matched teams and the games only emphasized this fact. No team in the State went, undefeated. Utah was able to place second in the race of three. Of such closeness were the games that any trick of fate sufficed to spill the dope over in favor of one team. This made the season a gamble from the start. Utah lhad plenty of fighting strength and plenty of speed. The fact that she finished second best does not necessarily place her playing strength in that position. Howsoever, the team out on sortie wonderful exhibitions of the national pastime; and it tickled our pride a little to know that we defeated the Aggies twice during the season. :-¦¦¦¦¦ The Crimson team depended a lot on the five-men defense, so well developed by Coach Fitzpatrick. This method proved a big success this year Mart Harris ably captained the team through its season, Elmer Dean James . Anderson Digital Image © 2007 University of Utah. All rights reserved. |
