Show ¦•£8"! I \ School of Commerce and Financel Dean Thos. A. Beal HE happiness and comfort of the people of this great country depend upon a scientific grasp of business-upon an education that will reduce business to a science and meet squarely the imminent problems of commercial vocations. In many of our business professions, as well as elsewhere, we find lack of vision, which is perhaps only another name for ignorance, or the want of proper training and especially along the lines of business. To meet this situation and the growing demand for a practical education-an education that will fit men and women to enter the business pursuits of life-Schools of Commerce and Business Administration have been organized in the largest universities of the land; Harvard University offers a two year course leading to the Degree of Master of Arts in Business Administration, Columbia gives a three year course and the Degree of Master of Science in Business, and Chicago, University of California, and other large institutions give similar courses and degrees. In order to keep pace with other institutions and meet the growing demand for subjects which will fit men and women for business in our own State, the President and Board of Regents of the University of Utah established in the fall of 1917 the School of Commerce and Finance, which offers work leading to an A. B., B. S., or M. A. Degree. And as a result of this action the interest in business subjects has far exceeded the interest in general education at the University the last four years. Business education if properly pursued w(ill help the young man and woman to enter business life with more confidence and efficiency. Now is the time to prepare for the morrow. The business man of tomorrow is the man who prepares today. PaJ'C 85 Digital Image © 2007 University of Utah. All rights reserved. |
