Show Arrived on the hill today with a crowd. Followed them. They greeted one another according to their gender. Didn't know anyone so I didn't register. September 23 Was all registered for Greek, chemistry, psychology, sociology, pathology, embryology, accounting and swimming. Had never taken any of those subjects. September 24 Our cards all have to be signed by a prof. The one I chose to assist me didn't help me at all. He just said if he signed it the Dean would send me back again. September 26 Been worrying all week-end about this "Dean." I've heard so much about him, I may be a freshman but I'm not green. Have a sneaking idea he's one of those fresh sophs. September 27 Fifth day of registration! I met a fine fellow-Shevy Havercamp. He told me a bunch of snap courses. Tuf luck they all come at the same hour. September 28 Full fledged university student now-all but paying my fees. Sure worked hard enough to deserve it. Went thru five lines as long as our main street. The "helping" prof, forgot to sign something twice, scmewhere. I had to suffer by going thru the line twice more. September 30 Aunt Lucy gave a party for us freshmen. I got a tip from a R. O. T. C. er that the "high brows" didn't go. I thot that I had better play safe. I wtent down to see Wally Reid. October 3 This is "rushing" week. That means that all the sororities rush after the same girl for a week and see who can make the best impression on her. They treat her nice, take her to the movies, teas, parties-well they take her every place but school. October 4 Our freshman caps came today. I certainly don't think much of the fellow's taste that selected them. They are little green things that make a fellow's head look like a cocoa-nut. Page 298 Digital Image © 2007 University of Utah.
