Show David W. Watts Publicity Manager The Musical Arts Society HE season of 1921-22 has been one of great satisfaction to the music lovers of the University, as evidenced by the success of the Musical Society, which, under the leadership of its president, Guy B. Rose, has made remarkable progress. The purpose of the organization is to further the interests of good music, and to encourage its appreciation among the members of the University Student Body and the faculty. The Society has been the means of amalgamating the efforts of the diffrent musical organizations of the campus, with the result that the functions sponsored by the University were of a higher grade and covered a wider field than ever before in the history of the institution. The opera "Manon," by Massenet, was presented the latter part of April, under the direction of Professor Thomas Giles, assisted by Mrs. Edna Evans Johnson, Miss Frances Grant, and Mrs. Stella Bradford, and stands as a monument to the ability of these experienced directors. The Inaugural concert, given April 5, by the society was a pronounced success, and the numbers rendered by the various groups demonstrated the ability and the work of the organizations taking part.
