Show 37 World Production An annual review of the vanadium industry with figures on domestic and foreign production is published by the United States Bureau of Mines annually in Mineral Resources and Minerals Yearbook. In these reviews, data concerning the vanadium contained in ore and concentrates that have been exported from Peru, Southwest Africa and Northern Rhodesia are given in metric tons, long tons, short tons or pounds, depending on the measure used in the country under consideration. These different units have been recalculated, for more convenient comparison, to short tons (2,000 pounds) and arranged in table 2, prepared to show the relative importance of the four countries that are the world's chief sources of supply of vanadium. It will be noted that the quantity of vanadium credited in Mineral Resources and Minerals Yearbook to Peru does not agree exactly with the figures on Peru in table 1 on page 27, compiled by Larsen (see page 23) although all three publications are prepared by the United States Bureau of Mines. The differences are not important as they are insufficient to change the relative, proportions as between Peru and the other countries. |
