In the absence of sales data upon which a market value of the mineral-bearing subject lands of the area can be based and in view of all available pertinent data regarding the gold-silver and gold-silver-copper-bearing subject lands of the Cebolla area, the writers appraise these lands at $5.00 per acre as of June 28, 1938. The total value of the 35,780.43 acres of such subject lands was $178,902.15 as of that date. Sulfur Gapco Deposit, Delta County, Colorado Low-grade sulfur deposits occur in the southeast quarter of Section 36, Township 14 South, Range 94 East, and in the west half of Section 11, Township 15 South, Range 93 West. The latter location, known as the Lazear deposit, is on private land. The location is Section 36, known as the Gapco Sulfur deposit, is 14 miles east of Delta, Colorado and is on subject lands. The sulfur occurs disseminated through beds^ of shale and sandstone in the Dakota formation exposed in a small canyon tributary to the Gunnison River. The date of the discovery of this deposit is not known, but active exploration was In progress in 1923. |
