Show 177 and faulting of the crystalline rocks alined approximately parallel to the schistosity. A study of the regional areal geology and topography suggests the possible existence of unmapped faults of considerable magnitude. The mineral deposits of economic interest are the vein deposits containing gold-silver, copper-gold-silver, and lead-gold-silver, which are here considered, and the vermicullte, Iron and titanium deposits of the Iron Hill stock, which are described elsewhere in this report. The vein deposits occur in a series of subparallel vein systems which trend In a general east-west direction across the north half of Township 47 North and the southern part of Township 48 North, Ranges 1, li and 2 West of the New Mexico Principal Meridian and into the northeast part of Township 47 North and the southeast part of Township 48 North, Range 3 Wast of the New Mexico Principal Meridian. Some veins of lesser importance exist to the south of the belt occupied by the principal vein systems. All of the veins are generally poorly exposed on the surface because of a mantle of soil and detritus. At no place could they be studied in detail over any considerable distance, and they were not accessible through underground workings at the time of this survey. Wherever seen, these veins appeared to follow the schistosity of the wall rock. In some places the mineral deposits lose their |
