Description JLAWS OP UTAH. 211 have not been previously published, and cause to be printed, at the public expense, one thousand copies, either in pamphlet or other convenient form, for reference and preservation; and shall, immediately after publication, gratuitously distribute to each Auxilary Office a sufficient number of copies to supply the County Clerks, Sheriffs, Probate Judges, Selectmen, City Recorders, Justices, Constables, and Poundkeepers in their respective counties; and one copy each to like officers in his own county, and the residue he may dispose of at not exceeding twenty five cents a copy. He may also charge and receive, from each person applying for a mark or brand, the fee of one dollar for each mark or brand so recorded. Sec. 6.-Clerks of Auxilary Office shall receive and forward to the General Recorder all applications for recording marks and brands, and shall furnish each applicant the Recorder's certificate of the mark or brand designated and recorded for him, for which service they may receive fifty cents each in addition to the Recorder's fee: Provided, that they shall gratuitously distribute the printed copies in their respective counties, as contemplated in the fifth section. All such printed copies shall be deemed the property of the several officers respectively, and shall be delivered by them to their successors in office. Sec. 7.-Any person, using a like brand in the position and place recorded to another, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be liable to a fine in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars for each offense. Sec. 8.-After the expiration of one year from the publication of this Act, any stock, over eighteen months old, running at large without a recorded mark or brand, shall be deemed estrays, and may be taken into custody by the Poundkeeper and disposed of as other estrays. *Sec. 9.-"An Act in relation to marks and brands," "Approved March 1, 1852," is hereby repealed: Provided, that nothing- in this repeal shall be construed to invalidate marks and brands already recorded. Approved January 13, 1366. CHAPTER CL. An ACT granting to Alvin Nichols and William S. Godbe the right to establish a toll bridge across Bear Hiver, in Box Elder County, and a bridge across the Malad. Sec. 1.-Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Utah: That Alvin Isichols and William S. Godbe are hereby authorized and required to erect, within one year from the passage of this Act, a good and substantial bridge across Bear river, in Box. Elder County, at or near the place where the Territorial road from Great Salt Lake City to Montana and Idaho Territories crosses Bear river at the old California and Fort Hall ford; and also a good and substantial bridge across the Malad, in said county, at or near where the present traveled road to California crosses said river; and they shall keep the same in good repair, and may take toll at the Bear river bridge during eight years, not to exceed the following rates: For each vehicle drawn by two animals,......................................................$2,00 For each vehicle drawn by four animals,...................................................... 2,50 For each vehicle drawn by six animals,......................................................... 3,00 For each vehicle drawn by one animal,........................................................ 1,00 For each pack animal,................................................................................... 50 For each horseman,...................................................................................... 50 For each footman,......................................................................................... 10 For each loose horse, mule, jack, camel, ox, cow or bull,.............................. 15 For each colt, calf, sheep, goat, or swine,..................................................... ¦ 5 Necessary drivers and assistants in driving herds or teams may pass toll free. The foregoing rates shall be kept posted up at each end of the bridge during the season of taking toll; and if the said Nichols and Godbe shall fail to post up the rates of toll as required, or shall collect above the rates specified, they shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars for each offense. Sec. 2.-After the completion of said bridge, if any person shall take toll upon any bridge or ferry within one and a half miles up the channel of said river or within
