| Show RULES FOR SANPETE HISTORICAL WRITING CONTEST The Sanpete Historical Writing Contest is open to all interested persons who live in Sanpete County residents Sanpete County and to all former Contestants may enter in one of three division Senior Citizen Professionsl or Non-Professional Each entry must state clearly the division which it is to be entered Each division Will be judged in five categories Anecdotes or Incidents Poetry Short Story Historical Essay and Personal Recollection Cash Prizes willawarded as follows Short Story and Personal Recollection--ist Historical Essay 30 00 2nd 20 00 3rd 10 00 Poetry--ist 20 00 2nd 10 00 3rd 00 Anecdote--1st 15 00 2nd 00 3rd 00 Honorable Mention will be awarded in each of the five categories and will be included in the publication SAGA OF THE SANPITCH Volume 15 Bssay anecdote or personal recollection articles must be written onhistorical pioneer or Indian theme based on true happenings in Sanpete County during the years 1849 to 1933 Poetry and short story must be consistent with life that period of time in Sanpete history and must be based on actual events All existing legends entries must be the in or traditions original work of the contestant and should be in keeping with good literary standards Anecdotes and historical essays taken from family histories or histories of our area or County must be authentic and fully documented Source of material for poetry personal recollection and fiction whether written or verbal must be stated The entry must never have been published or must not now be in the hands of an editor and other person to be published It must not be submitted for putlication elsewhere until the contest 1is decided Only one entry in each category may be submitted by each contestant Only one cash award will be presented to any individual in one year person winning first prize in any category for two consecutive years must wait one year before entering again in that category He will however be eligible to compete for first place in any of the other categories Three copies of each entry are required Names or other means of 1dentification must not appear on mamuscripts Each |
