Description A 1900 Washing machine. This copper tube model was motorized and had an agitating rocking action. A hand-cranked washing machine. The person cranking, moved a lever back and forth in a regular motion. It took 10 to 15 minutes for each round. It was the drudgery of the 1905-1910 school boy. A wooden plug held the water in and when removed the water ran on the ground. As suds were made by lye soap, eventually any vegetation it; its path would soon die. Winston Mover of Milburn remembers the demise of three apple trees in the wash area.
