| Show REMINISCENCES Dewey Olsen 206 South ist East Preston ID 83263 Sentor Citizen Division Third Place Poetry My youth was spent on the mountain That wonderful Manti mountain That conceals the rays of the rising sun Till the 1ight has filled the valley watched the golden bright moon race From one dark cloud tonew hiding place Just daring me to catch it Then disappear fortime marveled as those beautiful clouds Formed sculptures of various forms beautiful face castle tree Orlovely scene from yesteryear thrilled assoft sweet summer breeze Caressed my cheek or ruffled my hair And thenwatchedsunset glow And wondered if God were there heard the saucy chipmunk chirp And saw him flick his tail 4s he dashed uppost then stopped to scold Before running down the top fence rail saw the glean from the temple spire 4s the first rays of the sun Kade 1t appear translucent Andwondered if it were real watched the last light of the day Climb to the Mountain highest peak Till the topmost point was crowned with gold Then vanish into oblivion A1l these events and many more Made my young heart sing closed my eyes and dreamed of what The next bright day might bring -97 |
