Show D:!scription of the HABS,IHAER Checklist The HABSjHAER checklist is sorted al~tically by state, county a::x::1e, city or town name arrl record~. The state is in::iicaterl by the first two characters of the HABS or HAm number. 'Ihese dlaracters are the stardard abbreviations for states, ccrnrconwealths arrl territories. The counties are sorted by the three digit FIPS county a::x::1e, however, it is the county name that a~ in the checklist. Generally the counties are listed al~tically, rut there are states that have nunicipalities ootside of counties. '!hese states include Marylarrl, Missoori, Nevada arrl Virginia. look to the e.rrl of the state's listi.n;J for the alxNe states to firrl larger cities, e.g.; carson City is at the errl of the Nevada listi.n;J. There is a page break at the e.rrl of each state listi.n;J. The structure name is listed as "RECNAME" for record name. Also on this line is the Library of Con:JreSS shelf a::x::1e, which is assigned by the Library after the documentation has been transmitted fran the HABSjHAER office. The Secorrlary Name fields appear on the next two lines (SNAMEONE, SNAMEIW:>, SNAMEIHREE, SNAMEFOJR). These fields contain any secon:iary names, camrrents or other anplifying information. The type, arrount arrl lcx::ation of the dcx::::urrw::mtation is fourrl on the right side of the checklist. '!here are two possible lcx::ations for the dcx::::urrw::mtation; the HABSjHAER office (HH) or the Prints arrl RlotcxjraIils Division of the Library of Congress (LC). An "X" is placed. in the coltnnn belav "HH" or "IC" to in::iicate the lcx::ation of the dcx::::urrw::mtation. It is possible for documentation to be fourrl in both lcx::ations as supplemental dcx::::urrw::mts are acquired by the HABSjHAER office.
