In June of 1920, after leaving the field, he returned to personally take charge of a party which he had sent there in way for the purpose of making a detailed survey of what was known as the Colorado River structures and of which a detailed survey had never been made. R990- 991 " Q. Have you a copy of that survey here? " A. Yes. that is the field sheets of the survey - rather, this is a photostat of our plane table sheets used during the survey work in the field. This photostat was made for the suit in connection with a trip claims which were brought up after the discovery well came in; some parties claimed the strip of land between our permit, which we had surveyed out, and these plane table sheets were placed together and were used as an exhibit, I believe, in that suit, to settle the matter of the strip claims over the Colorado River structures. " Here ( indicating) is Moab. This ( indicating) is the course of the Colorado River. Here ( indicating) is the Big Bend. " The work extended along the Colorado River to Lockhart Canyon, Horse Thief Canyon and Indian Creek; thence part way up Indian Creek, a distance of approximately - Lockhart Canyon about, - forty- seven or forty- eight miles - |
