At or near, yes; were supposed to have been met at Piute Creek, but on account of bad trails the packer had to leave his packs near Nokai Canyon, and Mr. Loper and the Geologist Miser were compelled to drag the boat - one boat, upstream to the cache of food, or near where the food had been cached, and transport it by boat to the mouth of Piute. Then at the mouth of the San Juan River there was a cache of food, I believe had been left there by Mr. Tom Wimmer. We received additional food while at the mouth of the San Juan from the boats brought down by Mr. Kolb, or the Kolb brothers; I believe they both came. " Q. That was that trip he was talking about this morning in the testimony? " A. Yes sir." R. 894. Supplies were also brought up from Lees Ferry to the mouth of Aztec Creek. At Lees Ferry the trip was terminated and the party went to Flagstaff overland by automobile, and from Flagstaff he went by train to Thompson and then back to Monticello by stage.
