The purpose of the Hoyt trip in 1928 so far as he knows, was to survey the river and map sand bars. R. 937. " Q. When you located the bar Mr. Hoyt proceeded to examine it, see what kind of bar it was, where it began, where it ended, how far it extended upward, all those features, didn't he? " A. If it was a typical bar. " Q. You didn't pas up any bars that were not typical, did you? " A. We probably would be there yet if we hadn't. " Q. You think you would? " A. Yes sir. " Q. Your think you could have found more than you did find, do you? " A. What I meant by Mr. Hoyt mapping and examining the bars, the typical bars, was that once in a while we would strike sand, we would get out and push some of the sand; we didn't always map that, they were so frequent. R. 937. The best was not purposly steered on to a submerged bar in order that an examination of it might be made; it was steered alongside of the bars that were not submerged at times. R. 938- 939. |
