Show -2- Valley County Water District for the period 1950 to 1955, inclusive, are as follows: Other regulatory Wasteway No. 1 waste to Whitewater to Salton Sea channel and drains Year (Acre-Feet) (Acre-Feet) 1948 14,300 - 14,300* 1949 25,500 4,000 29,500 1950 52,200 5,100 63,300 1951 79,800 28,500 108,300 1952 69,800 19,800 89,600 1953 43,600 15,500 59,100 1954 45,400 11,100 56,500 1955 52,100 14,100 66,200 486,800 The above tabulation comprises the only data we have to compare with the quantities given in the article by Mr. Blaney in the American Geophysical Union Transactions of August 1955. It appears that Mr. Blaney used the releases through Wasteway No. 1 for 1950, 1951, and 1952 without reference to other regulatory waste. We are unable to find any support for the 12,000 acre-feet figure for 1949 used by Mr. Blaney, and we note that his quantities for 1948 and 1953 are given as estimates. The only direct releases from the Coachella Canal to the Salton Sea are through Wasteway No. 1 which is located at Station 4782 -f- 02 and is a lined channel. Wasteway No. 2 at Station 5401 -f 40, Wasteway No. 3 at Station 5716 -f- 25 and Wasteway No. 3A at Station 5896 + 58 all discharge into the Whitewater Storm Channel, which is contributory to the Salton Sea.
