Show SMOKING (Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey) Utah has consistently had the lowest percentage of persons 18 years and older who report having ever smoked 100 cigarettes and who currently smoke regularly. Both the U.S. and Utah appear to show a slowly decreasing percentage, although there was a modest increase in percentage of smokers in Utah in 1992. People with a high school education or less appear to be at an increased risk for engaging in smoking behavior, and less-educated Utahns are closer to the national median in percentage of smokers (Table 79, Figure 52).
