Show 5 A DAY ASSOCIATION OF UTAH A statewide coalition of 38 organizations including all of the major grocery chains, produce growers, public health agencies, as well as community non-profit agencies are working to increase awareness of and communicating the benefits of five (5) servings of fruits and vegetables daily to the public, with an emphasis on education of children. Increasing the per capita consumption of fruits and vegetables for the purposes of improving the health of residents of the State of Utah is the goal of this new non-profit organization. The 5 A DAY message grew out of conclusive evidence that people who eat large amount of fruits and vegetables have about half the risk of certain types of cancers. Two servings of fruits and 3 servings of vegetables is the lowest number recommended on the Food Guide Pyramid and on the year 2000 health objectives. The "big" project for this year is going to be a display and promotion at the State Fair.
