Show SYPHILIS - PRIMARY AND SECONDARY (Cases in 1992 in Utah=9) The Utah:U.S. ratio shows that over the past three decades Utah's syphilis incidence rate has been only about one-tenth that of the nation's. In recent years it was even lower. Both Utah and the nation seem to follow a pattern of increase for several years followed by a period of decline, and then an increase again, and most recently another decline (Table 61, Figure 37). The rates in Utah represent very few cases of primary and secondary syphilis, which may thus account for some of the variation in rates from year to year.
