Show Capt. V. Oleson J^g footballNever has there been a more earnest worker to captain a Utah eleven. Besides being well acqalnted with the rules and finer points of football, he is a leader, and has the confidence of his team-mates. "Tilly" made an excellent captain for 1909. He well deserved his place on the All Rocky Mountain team.Home"Bill"" Home should oe an excellent man to captain the 1910 eleven. He knows the game, is a star player himself, and is well liked by all the men on the squad. He is entitled to the tackle position on the All Rocky Mountain eleven.LoellIn Loell, Utah had a most dependable full back, his style of playing being much the same as Convill, captain of the 1908 eleven. He proved to be a strong line plunger, good kicker and an excellent man in making the long forward pass. He can perhaps throw the foot-ba 1 as far as any man in the country today. He was chosen to captain the All Rocky Mountain eleven.RomneyRomney, although a Freshman, has the "ear marks" of becoming the greatest; halfback ever seen in Utah. He will become much larger and stronger. He was the fastest man on the team during the season just closed. I look for great things from Romney.LoveLove may well be called the "find" of the season of 1909. He is a heady player, of good disposition, is absolutely sure in handling punts and passes, and is the hardest man in the West to stop when once started in an open field.SchweitzerIn Schweitzer Utah had a consistent ground gainer. His smashes just off tackle proved effective. He was one of the hardest men on the team to stop. He is of strong build and is never hurt. He makes an ideal back.ShoresShores made an excellent end, being perhaps the hardest tackier on the team. Although but a Freshman he played a strong, consistent game. He is sure to become a star man with more experience.Christensen"Count" Christensen filled a big hole in the Utah line during the season just closed. He is big, strong, fast, and is not afraid of hard work. He is the fastest big man on the squad, and with a little more experience will become one of the strongest men wearing the crimson.NielsenNielsen, as was predicted last year, made a good regular man for 1909. He plays well, either at center or guard, is never tired, always a hard worker and deserves much credit.Dave OlesonUtah was fortunate in having Dave Oleson enter school last fall. He is of powerful build, has plenty of experience, and his willingness and congenial spirit are always helpful to his team-mates. He is a strong lineman. (199) |
