Show Society for the Prevention of QueeningPREAMBLEELIEVING that all students of the University of Utah should pursue rigorously the paths of single blessedness, and that the development of the highest moral ideal, as outlined in Seth's Principles of Ethics is best attained by eternal and everlasting application to studies, in the manner vulgarly termed grinding, and that the excessive pursuit of coo-education in the University of Utah is highly deleterious to the said moral ideal as outlined in the said Principles: We, the promoters of student discipline in the University of Utah, do organize and establish the Society for the Prevention of Queening and ordain for our Government this Constitution.Article I-NameThe name of this organization shall be the Society for the Prevention of Queening.Article II-Officers and Their DutiesSection 1.-The officers of this Society shall be: President, Dean, Custodian, Discipline Committee, Surveyors, and Photographer.Section 2.-Duties of Officers.Clause 1.-Duties of the President. It shall be the duty of the President to diligently post notices on the bulletins of the University, forbidding the practice of queening in the University.Clause 2.-Duties of the Dean. It shall be the duty of the Dean to watch the halls of the University, to prevent violation of the Commandments against queening, to "butt in" to all student affairs, and to report all incipient cases of coo-education to the Committee on Discipline.Clause 3.-Duties of the Custodian. It shall be the duty of the Custodian to parade the grounds and walks of the University, to keep the window sills of the buildings freshly painted, for the discouragement of fussers and to assiduously interfere with any transgression of the rules of the Society.Clause 4.-Duties of the Discipline Committee.... It shall be the duty of the Discipline Committee to most barbarously punish any infraction of any rule, real or imaginary, of this organization.Clause 5.-Duties of Surveyors. It shall be the duty of the Surveyors to industriously observe all couples who go out upon the reservation, or stroll to the "U," to train their transits upon such offending parties, and to sedulously report any indication of queening to the school at large.Clause 6.-Duties of the Photographer. It shall be the duty of the Photographer to diligently take pictures of all offenders against the rules of this society, and have such pictures printed in the University Year Book.The officers of the Society are:President- Dean- Custodian-Discipline Committee- Surveyors- Photographer-(94)"Get Off da Grass' |
