S. 1876, p. 354. Cyanocorax chilensis, Sharpe, Cat. B. iv. p. 125. Tilotilo, Prov. Yungas (B.). Since we have distinguished the Bolivian form of this species as C. nigriceps we have had an opportunity of examining a skin from Corrientes, which, there can be no doubt, is identical with the Paraguayan form (i. e. cyanomelas, Vieill. ex Azara). The result is that the Bolivian bird, if not precisely similar to the Corrientes form, is much too near to be separated from it, and that the S. Brazilian form (C. cyanomelas, Sharpe), will require a new name, if it is to be kept distinct. It is possible that Bonaparte's Psilorhinus chilensis may, as Mr. Sharpe conjectured, have been based on an example of this species; but this name ought not to have been adopted, for two reasons: (1) the diagnosis is altogether insufficient; (2) the locality implied in the name is erroneous.
