Show 526 MESSRS. SCLATER A N D SALVIN O N [June 3, equatus of Lawrence. An examination of Sclater's type in the Museum, Liverpool, and a comparison of it with the present example and others from Panama, have brought us to the conclusion that Salvin's suspicions (I. s. c.) as to the identity of the two species were well founded. The extent of the slight postocular spot has been somewhat magnified in Sclater's figure; and though this spot is hardly apparent in Mr. Salmon's specimen, it does not seem to us to be sufficient to keep the two birds distinct. 257.
