Show 1 the project herein authorized a self-supporting and financially 2 solvent undertaking, the Secretary of the Interior, suhject to 3 the terms of the Colorado River compact hereinafter men- 4 tioned, is hereby authorized to construct, operate, and main- 5 tain a dam and. incidental works in the main stream of the 6 Colorado River at Black Canyon or Boulder Canyon adequate 7 to create a storage reservoir of a capacity of not less than 8 twenty million acre-feet of water and a main canal and 9 appurtenant structures located entirely within the United 10 States connecting the Laguna Dam with the Imperial and 11 Coachella Valleys in California; also to construct and equip, 12 operate, and maintain at or near said dam, a complete plant 18 and incidental structures suitable for the fullest economic 14 development of electrical energy from the water discharged 15 from said reservoir; and to acquire by proceedings in eminent 16 domain, or otherwise, all lands, rights of way, and other prop- 17 erty necessary for said purposes. 18 Sec. 2. (a) There is hereby established a special fund, 19 to be known as the " Colorado River Dam fund " (herein- 20 after referred to as the " fund "), and to be available, as 21 hereafter provided, only for earning out the provisions of this 22 Act. All revenues received in carrying out the provisions 23 of this Act shall be paid into and expenditures shall be made 24 out of the fund, under the direction of the Secretary of the 21 Interior. |
