Show 10 1 communities and lands served thereby, according to the 2 benefits derived therefrom. 3 SEC\ 11. That nothing in this Act shall be construed 4 as modifying in any manner the existing contract, dated 5 October LW, 1018, between the Tinted States and Imperial 6 irrigation district, providing for a connection with Laguna 7 Dam; but the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to 8 modify the said contract, with the consent of the said dis- 9 trict, or to enter into a new contract or contracts, with the 10 said district or any private corporation or any corporation 11 subsidiary to said district, in order to provide for the con- 12 struction, in accordance with the terms of this Act, of a 13 canal, or canals, and appurtenant structures, adequate to 14 serve the lands of said district, and other lands that may be i"» served thereby, and to equitably allocate the costs thereof. That wherever the words "political subdi-17 vision " or "* political subdivisions M are used herein they 1$ shall be understood to include any State, district, municipal-10 ity. or other governmental organization. |
