Show 11 1 covered into the said subfund herein provided for: Provided, 2 That all persons who have served in the United States 3 Army, Navy, or Marine Corps during the war with Ger- 4 many, the war with Spain, or in the suppression of the 5 insurrection in the Philippines, and who have been honor- 6 ably separated or discharged therefrom or placed in the 7 Regular Army or Navy Reserve, shall have the exclusive 8 preference right for a period of three months to enter said 9 lands, subject, however, to the provisions of subsection c 10 of section 4, Act of December 5, 1924 (Forty-third Statutes 11 at Large, page 702) ; and also, so far as practicable, pref- 12 erence shall be given to said persons in all construction work 13 authorized by this Act: Provided further, That in the event 14 such an entry shall be relinquished at any time prior to 15 actual residence upon the land by the entryman for not 16 loss than one year, lands so relinquished shall not be sub- 17 ject to entry for a period of sixty days after the filing and 18 notation of the relinquishment in the local land office, and 19 after the expiration of said sixty-day period such lands shall 20 be open to entry, subject to the preference in this section 21 provided. 22 Sue. 10. That nothing in this Act shall be construed 23 as modifying in any manner the existing contract, dated 24 October 23, 1918. between the United States and the Im- 25 perial Irrigation District, providing for a connection with |
