Show 10 1 Skc. 11. That nothing in this Act slmll bo construed 2 as modifying in any manner the existing contract, dated 8 October 23, lUlft, between the United States and Imperial 4 irrigation district, providing for a connection with Laguna 5 Dam; but the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to (> modify the said contract, with the consent of the said dis- 7 trict, or to enter into a new contract or contracts with the 8 said district, or any private corporation or amr corporation 1) subsidiary to said district, in order to provide for the construc- 10 tion, in accordance witli the terms of this Act, of a canal or 11 canals and appurtonani structures, adequate to serve the 12 lands of said district, and other lands that may be served III thereby, and to equitably allocate the costs thereof. 14 Hut*. 12. That wherever the words "political subdi- 15 vision" or "political subdivisions" are used herein they Hi shall be understood to include any State, district, municipal-17 ity, or other governmental organization. |
