Show TAH is a great basket-ball state, and Utah teams have always held their own with visiting aggregations. However, up to the present time the University, although the recognized leader in all other amateur athletics, has had no regular team. Perhaps this is due to lack of interest among the students, but whatever the cause may have been, a change is due and will no doubt come. Looking toward this end, the athletic board has obtained the services of Mr. Milne of the L. D. S. University. Mr. Milne is particularly valuable as a basket-ball coach, and under his direction much may be expected. There is material here, and with a competent coach we should turn out a team which will hold its own with any in the state. The interclass series the past year at least served to show the presence of considerable available material. The Freshmen demonstrated their superiority over the other classes by three well-earned victories . The Sophomores, however, gave them a hard game, scoring 20 points to the Freshmen's 21. The race for last place was close between the upper classmen. The Juniors, however, won the deciding game with a score of 30 to 29. Let us, then, look forward to a successful season for our first Varsity team next year.<204) |
