Show Idle Thoughts of an Idle EngineerF THE many days in the school year that pass by, of the many days devoted to plugging and grinding, of the many days in which the midnight oil has been burned, and of those days devoted to lighter thoughts of school life, of those days devoted to campustry-of all these days, of which will memory hold the strongest impression, and to which will thoughts in future years go back with fondest recollection? Now, plugger, there is no intention of slamming the many hours which you in the past have devoted to studying, because you'll get the benefit of those hours when you begin to draw in the long green; or, perhaps better, you should get the benefit of those hours when that propitious event occurs in your life. But do not the few days that you devoted to those little strolls over the hills, and the time when you said soft things and made fool remarks cling longer in your memory than the many, or any one, of the nights of hard grinding? Now, stroller, there is no intention of slamming the many hours which you in the past have devoted to campustry, because you'll get the benefit of those hours when you go to make the final selection; or, perhaps better, you should get the benefit of those hours when that propitious event occurs in your life. But do not the few days that you devoted to cramming, to grinding, andto burning the midnight oil cling longer in your memory than the many occasions when you killed time to be killing t ime, and the days when you wandered off so as not to be in danger of getting too close to your books and studying?Well, don't try to answer. But isn't it rather true, anyway? And then isn't it just as well that it is true? J. j#j 'Q8.(124) |
