Show The Class of 1909 HE Junior class does not propose to bore its friends with its history- class histories are much too common-nor does it propose to mention any of the events (such as inter-class athletic contests, debates, etc.) in which it has not come off victorious. Such a thing as a class ever mentioning its defeats is unheard of, and we never do unheard-of things. But to begin. We, of course, won the flag rush from the '08 class. In football the score stood: '09, 0; '08, 0.We gave a Freshman dance. We gave a Sophomore dance, at which we inovated the custom of no decorations.Carlson and Anderson, '09, won the inter-class debate. We won the inter-class baseball series (heaven knows it was not our fault) and we gave the Prom this year. But these noble deeds have not made the Junior class what it is today. It is not the faithful paying of class dues that has done it, either. We scarcely know what it is ourselves, but if there is any class in the school which can show such a crowd of geniuses, physically, mentally, morally or socially speaking, we would like to see that class.(70) |
