Show Every man who has won his "U" in athletics is eligible to membership and is considered an active member. The club now has about thirty-five men registered in the school, who are actively working for the improvement of present conditions. For the examples of the usefulness of such a club, we have only to note that Chicago's present unquestioned supremacy is due to the efforts of such a club; Wisconsin -has developed a crew; Pennsylvania has the finest gymnasium in the land; Princeton has her Carnegie Lake; Yale, during the past football season, beginning with only three veterans, developed one of the best teams in the history of the school; and all this through the efforts of just such a club. These are some of the numerous advantages obtained by a good, live, Varsity Club. Utah has the club, and the results will follow.During the past few years former idols have returned to college, but have invariably been treated as strangers, as being conspicuously out of place. Henceforth a new spirit will pervade and every man, whether a graduate or not, will be given royal and open treatment. We want to ask that every man who has any knowledge of the various sports volunteer his aid.The Utah Varsity Club is a fixture, a necessity, and the united effort can only meet with unbounded success. The club plans to give an annual show, the proceeds of which will be used in bringing outside teams here. The club will also encourage and promote a closer relationship between the student and athletics. So let each of us be a "live one," and try to win our "U" and membership to the Utah Varsity Club.(209) |
