Who's all right? She's all right! Who's all right? Utah!(Enter Smith, an old football captain.) Rah! Rah! Rah! Rah! Rah! Rah! Rah! Rah! Rah! Smith! Smith! Smith! Speech! Speech! Speech! Now!Smith: "Fellow students" (applause), "before I begin" (louder applause). "Fellow students." (Here nine Rahs for Smith follow, and someone else is rushed to the platform).(Enter the Coach.) Spontaneously the bunch breaks into: Oh! Mr. Maddock! Oh! Mr. Maddock!The greatest coach this country ever knew. He goes right at it, With the hurry habit; Oh! Mr. Maddock of the U. of U.Again the performance of a speech proceeds and tin cans, dish-pans and steam whistles are brought into use, trying to drown the speaker. After about fifteen minutes of continuous performance the Rooters' Club breaks up.SCENE II.-Football Game.This, dear reader, in short, is the Rooters' Club, a jolly, loud bunch with red hats and neckties, pegtop trousers, patent leather oxfords and up-to-date hose-and NOISE.(152) |
