Show 3T IS possible that this title fails to convey any definite idea to some of us. "Singen, Sang, gesungen" is German for sing, and "fest" for Festival- Festival of Song. The promoters and hosts at our first Sangerfest were Dr. Ebaugh and Mr. Williams, and we hope that they will make it an annual affair. The doctor is not a little proud of his prowess as a musician, and Mr. Williams can sing in almost any company. They included in this festive chorus "those students who had at any time been registered in the Chemistry department." Almost every engineer responded, thus affording as choice a collection of voices as could be desired. A chorus of college men from town was present and assisted materially in making the affair an artistic success. There was the atmosphere of congeniality and good fellowship which cannot fail to develop that true college spirit which Dr. Ebaugh and Mr. Williams, among others, are endeavoring to foster. Society men, athletes and "studes," Frat men, Non-frat men, Freshmen, and Seniors sang together, talked together, and ate together and enjoyed an occasion the like of which has never before been seen. One of the features of the Sangerfest was a series of class songs. The words of some are worth keeping, but plain print cannot lend the exquisite touches that made their rendition so charming.Freshman SongTune-Alice Where Art Thou Going?Gold old name is Freshman,Though why we cannot tell,There's something in our atmosphere,That makes us play like h-We'll get the scalps of every classIn the good old TL of TLIt's funny, but you cannot findA thing that we can't do.We won the flag rush from the Sophs. When they were pleasure bentWe walloped them so gosh darn hardThey didn't leave a scent.Chorus-Sophormores, how bum you are playing,You aint no good at all.You all just think you are wondersBut how about foot-ball.Your class has got the big headIt's got the sore head, too.Sophormores, Juniors, Seniors, too.You think you run the TL of TLSophormores what are you doing.(149) |
