B. Stewa rt; then spoke at the Dr aper Sunday Sch ool and in the afte rnoon preached to the people i n S a cramen~ J!eeti ng . While there he learned of the d e a th of Ebene zer Brown , one of the MOrmon Battalion , who had passed away a t 12 minutes to 12 p .m. on ~he preceeding night. He returned home Sunday evening on the n: 40 train . Monday mor ning , January 28, he ~rans ferred con trol of the 14th ward ove r to a brother. ward with many of the people f eeling badly because of the change . · During the f ollowi ng week , he spent c onsiderable time in writing letters to the saints in the South and in making prep a r a tion for · l eavilig: on his newly appointed mission .
