Show - 44 - Monday morning , a~ ter working ~ or over an hour in preparing a bap~isma l place, he baptized two people , after which he wal ked to Rome wh ere he met brother whom he went home and stayed tha t night. It was raining on the morning of octobe r 30 , 1877, ~ro~her Allen drove him :;. over to Joseph Haynie's home a tAmuc hi' e where he met El de r Lisenbee and ~here they had dinner and were enterta ined f or the ~ight. The next morning he visited with the }1 rancis M. Weld n family at Armuchie, where he changed clothing and then walked to Bailey Hoyer's home a t Beech Creek , where he spent the night . Early in ~he morning on November 1 , 187'/ , he again walked over Lookout Mountain to HaY\vood valley. He f irst called a t the Jeter home -' and l a ter spent the af ternoon and nigh~ at ~he Thomas A. Lawrence home . The morning of November ~as spent in read ing and_ pa rching corn , after which he went to the William L. Marshall home where he remained tha t evening and was cared f or over th night . At these various homes , he was making tinal a rrangements f or the journey west or was visiting with the saints be f ore the f inal sepa r a tion which he knew would s oon take pl ace . Saturday , the ~ rd , he spent in the homes of brothers George w. Wilson and Thomas A. Lawrence . November 4 , 1 87'7 , was Sunday and the saints ga thered a t the Haywood Church , in goodly attendance , to hear Elder John Morgan , perhaps for the last time , talk on Gospel principles . It was an importan t and impressive occasion. al so f or J ohn Morgan. It was here , in Haywood valley , where he had really hed his ~ irst great success in ~ ission a ry work; where the dream he ha d had el even years before in the Haywood home a t Salt Lake City had at long last come true . Ahd now these good people whom he had brought into the f old of Christ were meeting , maybe f or the l ast time , to listen t o ~he council and teaching ot this man whom they had le a r ned |
