Show TRACK SEASON•.'dp"Track4n!*ii\>Wl- >r-:iiT TTAH started the season with a splendid record in the Colorado relays and with dual meet victories over the Utah Aggies and B. Y. U. According to the dope sheet, Coach Ike Armstrong's tracksters weren't expected to cut much of a figure in this spring's competition and if it had not been for the consistent second-placing of the Ute cinder artists and the brilliant work of two freshmen sensations all might have gone well in the homes of the dope fiends.Nate Long and Byron Grant deserve a large amount of the credit for Utah's early season success. Long has scored heavily in the 100 and 220-yard events while Grant has consistently out-pointed his rivals in the high jump and hurdle competition. Jackie Burton, stellar middle distance man, has also shown up well in the 440 and 880-yard runs. The Redskins have been without the services of Captain Doral Pilling because of illness, but he is expected to be in shape for the state and conference meets. With the addition the Redskins will present an even stronger lineup and prospects are good for a very successful season.Although they arrived only several hours before the opening of the meet, the Ute tracksters gave a splendid account of themselves in the Colorado RelayJ.
