Show REPORT OF THE COMMI?3SIONER OF INDIAN AFFAIRS. 73 cutting, hauling, and banking of the timber he not less than $5.50 per thousand feet; that the logs he banked on the south branch of the Oconto River; that all of the labor of cutting. hauling, and banking the timber be done by contract with the Menominee Indians under the rnles and regulations in force on their reservation, and that on the delivery of the timber to the owners of the fee they should convey to the United States for the benefit of the Menominee Indiins all of their right, title, and interest in and to the said lands. February 14, Hollister, Amos & Co. filed a $15,000 bond and entered into a contract with the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, which was approved by the Department Fehrnary 26. Authority was also granted to add to the existing rules for the cutting of timber on the Menominee Fiesewation such other rnles as might be necessary to meet the requirements of the wntract and of the service. The terms of the contract were fully carried out, and the sum of $9,687.70 was paid by Holliter, Amos & Co. to the United States Indian agent for the cutting, hauling, and banking of the timber.
