Show -21- crop rotation, special tillage practices, soil building crops, and the use of commercial fertilizers and barnyard manure will be applied to keep the land permanently productive. B. Operation and Maintenance of Irrigation Works: Operations and maintenance of the irrigation and open subsurface drainage system will be the responsibility of the Colorado River Indian Irrigation Project. Payment of the share of such costs assessable against lands covered by this lease shall be in accordance with the provisions of Title 25, Code of Federal Regulations. The project will assume the operation and maintenance of facilities constructed by the lessee as follows: canals, laterals, structures, pumping plants, subsurface drains, and drainage wells upon satisfactory completion of construction work. The Bureau is willing to consider a proposal by a lessee to assume the operation and maintenance of facilities serving lands under his lease. C. Maintenance of Roads: Roads constructed by the lessee shall be maintained by the lessee until such time as these roads will be turned over to the county, State, or Federal Government for maintenance. IV. Rights of Way: The lessor reserves the right to construct or permit to be constructed, and the rights of way therefor, any additional roads, highways, oil lines, gas lines, electric lines, telephone lines, or other facilities or structures. |
