Show ROB RTD. H FF R FOLLOW- PI TERVIEW J R 22 2 04 as a interpreter because he could both think in English and Japanese and tran lat much quicker than Lieutenant Williams could. One of the first persons that we interviewed was the Chinese fisherman by the name of Kanemura and he told us that he had heard rumors that the story the Japanese told us about the prisoners of war being killed in a U.S. bombing raid was not true. Then, we met at night and interviewed three Korean gunzukus. These were three labor troops. They were named Ahn, Rim, and Kim. They reported that they had been sent to draw rations and had seen carcasses of what they thought were American prisoners hanging. Turned out later these were sheep carcasses. However, at first there were three American aviators captured and sent to Japan. These were Lieutenant Gg) Calvin D. Terry, Petty Officer Oscar Long Doyle, and a Lieutenant Gg) Connell. We contacted these three in the United States and found they were all three to be alive and well. The next prisoner of war captured was a radioman second class Wolf, and a survivor from a B-24. When Wolf was captured on July the 4th and the other survivor from the B-24 on August the gth_this is in 1944-they were bayoneted to death in the Kominato area, by privates Kido, Shimura, and Corporal Okamoto. They were beheaded by Lieutenant Colonel Ito, which was ordered by Captain Higashigi, who was General Tashibana's adjutant. February the 18th, in 1945, Ensign Floyd Ewing Hall, US Navy Reserve and another unidentified aviator, a petty officer, were rescued between Chichi Jima and Ani Jima, which is the northernmost island of the Bonins. On February the 22nd, the petty officer was beheaded by Lieutenant Gg) Morishata. The liver and thigh flesh were removed and sent to General Tashibana's headquarters where a party of the general, Colonel Kato, Major Matoba, Captain Kosuga, and Captain Enjo, participated.
