Show ALBERTO GUZMAN bruary 10, 2006 comes from. JAS: I bet they're proud of you too. ALB: I'm proud of them. My life has been not too bad. When I was about thirteen fourteen years old, I used to ride them freight trains, you know? JAS: Yeah. ALB: Like a hobo. I used to like that! One time I went from Abilene, Texas, all the way to El Paso. Five hundred miles in one night! JAS: Wow. ALB: Next day, we got up, we went out, got a job, [inaudible] place, you know, where you water the fruit and everything, make it grow. JAS: Sure. ALB: And we made a little bit of money and the third day, we headed back. We boarded another one of them trains and it didn't cost us one cent and five, six hundred miles back home. I used to like that. God damned hobos are smart! They tell good jokes and they were smart, but they just got tired of the civilization, you know, and they went on their own ... END OF INTERVIEW 94 |
