Show ALBERTO GUZMAN February 10 2006 spark after we done that, you know. Grinding the valves with some kind of stuff I don t know, I forgot what we used. JAS: Bore it out, you wanted to bore it out to make it stronger, pump more gas? ALB: Yeah, so it runs good, you know. Never did start! We run out the tires that was on it, you know, pushing it down the hill there. He throws it in gear and the tires just crash on the ground, you know, trying to turn the motor. But we finally gave it up. It couldn't run anymore. We could buy a gallon of gasoline for five cents. Think of that. JAS: Wow. ALB: A gallon of gasoline for five cents. JAS: Now was that a lot of money then? ALB: No. JAS: No. ALB: We didn't have nothing, but that was how cheap the gasoline was. JAS: Yeah. ALB: Five cents a gallon. JAS: Times have changed, huh? ALB: Yeah. But I was "buck, buck, buck" many years ago, you know, back in the 20's. 17's and the 20's. And actually, people didn't have much money. This was a poor country, you know. Fighting the Indians, you know, trying to take over the country and everything. It was hard, you know, for us. JAS: Fighting the Indians- can you get into that a little bit? 9 |
