Show ALBERTO GUZMAN February 10, 2006 And that captain called a couple of medical guys, they come and got me. I r m mb r them, too, they come and got me and picked me up. And I passed out. Then from there I don't remember. I don't remember what happened after that. But I can recall that my company got wiped out and I think I was still with the 9th Infantry, I'm pretty sure, because when they found me, that I was still alive, they had me for a prisoner. Prisoner of war and all that. JAS: Who had you? ALB: The government thought I was lost, you know, prisoner of war or something. They didn't know where I was. JAS: Were you in a field hospital? ALB: Yeah. JAS: Okay. ALB: Then my company moved to England. About two months after that, they found out where my company was so they decided to send me there. Then I came to my senses; you know, my head: I could remember my name and everything. But I couldn't forget that battle. JAS: Yeah. ALB: I could still picture those guys getting killed, you know, in the front of me, and all that. And I went to the company - JAS: -Hold on one sec: you were in the field hospital two months? ALB: Yeah. JAS: And you were recovering, like, your ankle that entire time? 62 |
