Show ALBERTO GUZMAN February 10,2006 ALB: Yeah, my ankle and my head. JAS: Okay. ALB: That's what I was recovering for. And during that time my company moved to England. JAS: Okay. ALB: So after that they send me from North Africa in an English boat, you know, to England. That was the most horrible ride I ever- them English, they have nothing! Nothing but soup. Fish soup and hard crackers to eat. That's all they had! You know, they'd been at war for a long time, the English. JAS: Yeah. ALB: And they sent us on an English boat to Hampshire, New Hampshire, England. JAS: Okay. ALB: For the summer up there. And then, there, I joined my company. JAS: Okay. This is about, maybe, May, 1943? ALB: Yeah. Somewhere in there. JAS: Okay. ALB: Yeah. I was glad that I wasn't killed, I wasn't missed in action no more, and that I was alive. JAS: Some of your old friends still in the company, still there? ALB: I seen some of them when I got to the company, yeah. There wasn't very many left, just a few of them.
