Show ALBERTO GUZMAN JA :Okay. ALB: Rabat. JAS: What country is that? F bruary 10 2006 ALB: That's French Morocco, where I was, Casablanca. And Algiers was another lead country. You know, another lead country comes in that like that. All three countries come in and hit French Morocco. JAS: Now real quickly, what time was it when you got to North Africa when you landed? ALB: We landed November the 8t\ 1942. JAS: Okay. ALB: I'll never forget that day. JAS: Tell me about it. ALB: Well, it wasn't too rough. We got in the boats and they start shooting at us, you know, and we decided to duck under the boat. And we hit the beach and we had to swim a little bit to touch the ground, the bottom of the ocean. And then we start crawling in the sand, you know. The water come and bring us back and it would keep going until we got our feet on the ground, you know. Then we could walk. The whole division landed at the same time. So them people up there, you know, don't know what the hell is going on, you know. They had an idea that we was going to hit up there, but they didn't- they wasn't sure. And after that, when Casablanca, we surrender Casablanca, you know, our division did. We was supposed to take Casablanca. 43 |
