Show Socioeconomic Status The following table details some economic characteristics by local health department and county. Further information as well as Utah-U.S. comparisons of the categories listed follow in the Demographics and Health Care Costs, Access, and Quality sections of this Review. Data by health department and county offer a more detailed perspective than Utah averages alone can provide. These data point out that economic disparities exist within the state. For example, the percentage of those living in poverty in 1990 varied from a low of 8% in Davis County to a high of 36% in San Juan County. Per capita income in Summit County is nearly two and a half times that in San Juan County. Unemployment rates range from 1.5% in Daggett County to 11.5% in Piute County. The percentage of those eligible for Medicaid and of those who actually use it varies substantially across the state, as does the percentage of those who have no health insurance. Table 8.
