Show Union Committee From Spotlight exhibits to lectures to Browsing Room Sing-a-Iongs, the activities planned by the Union Committees comprised an important part of Ute social and cultural life. Events such as Confab debates and Sound-off discussions enhanced out-of-the-classroom intellectual development, while the facilities of the game area provided recreational enjoyment. Committee activities also provided an occasion to meet and work with fellow students, to learn to delegate and accept responsibility and to express creativity. Union Committees advertised for membership at the "Activities Rodeo." Sponsored by the Program Council, the event was held in the Union Ballroom during fall quarter. FOLK AND SQUARE DANCE - Providing weekly dances in the Union for all folk dance enthusiasts were Janet Housley, Carolyn Sheperd, Freddie Shields, chairman, Terry Newfarmer, Kathy Walther and Kris Litchman. GAMES - Promoting the use of the Union games area through tournaments, leagues, and exhibitions was the task of Tom Higham, chairman, Stan Johnson, Renee Boley, Jeff McNemar and Bill Harpster.
