Show Led by Coach Jack Gardner, a refreshed Ute team came back to Conference play to defeat the Colorado State Rams, 78-68. The Stanford Indians journeyed to Salt Lake hunting Redskin scalps but they were surprised when the Redskins captured the wampum, 87-81. Utah then met Utah State for a second season clash with the Aggies. After licking their wounds from their earlier season defeat at the hands of the Aggies, the Utes were prepared for the hoop clash. Utah State fell, 79-67. BYU was the next team on the hoop schedule. The Cougars lost to their age-old rivals, 91-89. Utah ended what had appeared to be a strong season with six losses out of the seven final Conference games. The Wildcats of Arizona stopped the Ute squad, 72-85, when the hoopsters traveled to Yucca country. The Sun Devils of Arizona State shattered WAC hopes when they handed Utah a 65-71 defeat. The Cougars of BYU met the Utes a second time to avenge their earlier loss. Luck was with them and they succeeded downing Utah by three points.
