Show Ketil Moksnes Right Guard Vince Panariello Right Guard John Pease Right End With title hopes still gleaming after the Wyoming loss, Utah roared down Arizona State's gridiron. However, the Sun Devils were determined to hold the Utes down, continuing to score even in the last rive seconds, and they defeated the Utes 30-22. Underdog Utah held its own against highly favored Army. While the score spelled defeat, there was an essence of victory as the Utes became the only team to score against Army at Mitchie Field this season. The Redskins had Army at 7-0 in the third quarter and, while the Cadets gained a final 8-7 victory, they acquired a new and greater respect for Utah. The California Golden Bears rallied from a 15 point deficit to defeat the Utes 35 to 22, before 14,000 cold and blanketed fans. Each Bear touchdown was exciting with 33, 14, 26 and 35 yard runs. Fumbles and ineffective defense led to the Utah defeat. The last game saw the Utes fighting their oldest foe, the Utah State Aggies. The Ags, looking for a bowl-bid and prizing their 8-1 record, were stunned when the Utes handed them a 25-23 defeat. The Utes won it the hard way, trailing 20-7 at the half and 23-13 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but they fought to the last three and a half minutes and came up with a win. |
